COR was born in 1994 as an extracurricular service project affiliated with the Gonzaga University Doctoral Program in Leadership Studies. At that time, several doctoral faculty were overwhelmed with requests for consulting and technical assistance from organizations who were troubled in some way, or who were searching for skills necessary to deal with rampant, widespread, and unprecedented organizational change. Grounded in the literature and research on organizational change and leadership, these graduate faculty members began to offer trainer-of-trainers workshops so that an expanded number of competent professionals would be trained and available to organizations with these needs. These training experiences attracted many doctoral students (many of whom now hold the Ph.D.), as well as many interested and talented community leaders not formally affiliated with Gonzaga University.

COR’s mission is directly traceable to the mission of both Gonzaga and its Ph.D. Program in Leadership Studies. Because of its roots in an academic setting, COR’s work is grounded in sound theoretical and empirical foundations, and COR Associates maintain a lifelong attachment to learning and keeping current on issues which comprise COR’s work.
